This is the thirteenth year in the life of Macedon Music, an organization which has become the musical centre of the Macedon Ranges. A group of local musicians took the initiative of providing a high standard of live music to residents and now a number of internationally recognized ensembles and artists perform regularly at Lowland Farm. While locals have come to expect to hear great music close to home, many people from the city attend concerts because they enjoy the unique rural setting and the intimacy of the venue. Chamber music remains the major focus of the annual concert program, but instrumental and vocal recitals and jazz also have a significant role.
Lowland Farm, where all the concerts take place, is a private property at the foot of Mt Macedon, a fifty minute drive from Melbourne. The contemporary design of the house offers intimate involvement with the music being performed, in a room seating up to ninety people, with broad views over the surrounding lawns and lake. The atmosphere is relaxed and the audience is served wine and light refreshments at interval.
